This seminar focuses on the question of sustainability from ecological and social perspectives. A key component of the seminar is the excursions to and workshops at documenta fifteen. documenta fifteen unfolds under the concept of lumbung, or a communal rice barn, which serves as an artistic and curatorial methodology of collective accumulation and sharing. Building on literature in critical theory, feminist and ecological economics, the artistic projects can be read as tools, propositions, and means of prototyping and enacting possible futures. We will further examine the notion of caretaking and maintenance in art, for art, of art, and conversely, how an art of caretaking might look like.
Im Mittelpunkt dieses Seminars steht die Frage der Nachhaltigkeit aus ökologischer und sozialer Sicht. Ein zentraler Bestandteil des Seminars sind die Exkursionen und Workshops auf der documenta fifteen. Die documenta fifteen entfaltet sich unter dem Konzept der Lumbung, einer kommunalen Reisscheune, die als künstlerische und kuratorische Methodik der kollektiven Akkumulation und des Teilens dient. Aufbauend auf der Literatur der kritischen Theorie, der feministischen und der ökologischen Ökonomie können die künstlerischen Projekte als Werkzeuge, Vorschläge und Mittel zur Erprobung und Umsetzung möglicher Zukünfte verstanden werden. Wir werden den Begriff des Pflegens (care) und der Instandhaltung (maintenance) in der Kunst, für die Kunst, von der Kunst, weiter untersuchen und umgekehrt, wie eine Kunst des Pflegens aussehen könnte.
