This seminar focuses on the societal implications and dimensions of computing. Within an interdisciplinary frame, and based on academic papers and selected case studies, students engage with computing technologies within cultural, political, and societal contexts. Students learn to critically engage with the mutual shaping of technology and society, fostering their awareness for a responsible and ethical engagement with computing technologies in their future professional fields. This seminar allows for a knowledge transfer of theories and methods from disciplines within the social science and humanities, and at the same time strengthens students embedment in their own field.
