AIM
This seminar provides basic knowledge for architectural design and fabrication with industrial robots. How can we use our digital drawing for a subsequent digital assembly? What is needed to instruct a robotic arm for performing tasks involving movement and actions like picking and placing objects? What information is needed to be put in the architectural design and how does this information need to be translated to be understood by a robot?
TOPIC
The topic of this seminar is building your own parametric design by using an industrial robotic six-axis arm. To achieve this goal, we will refresh your already existing basic knowledge of Grasshopper and Rhinoceros, use our plugin called robot components and ABB Robotstudio for simulation, and finally build a structure on small scale with the ABB industrial robot arm. There are often many unexpected problems in your first robotic toolpath process - from theory to practice - such as accuracy issues, singularity problems in robotics, features like tolerances of different materials. In this seminar, students will find and solve those problems, so that they can be considered in advance in future robotic and parametric designs.
