Neoliberalism is a strongly contested concept both in theory and practice. Quite a few scholars continue to doubt its very existence. Many have declared neoliberalism “dead” a few times during past decades only to experience come backs and remarkable resilience. The seminar will introduce different approaches to study neoliberalism, trace the ideas back to the origins before World War II, introduce the most important theorists and theories (both neoliberals and critics), discuss manifestations and developments in different countries and world regions, examine policy mobility (diffusion, translation, parallel mobilization), observe mutations and raise questions related to the debate on Post-Neoliberalism.
