This course will identify key moments and
turning points in the long fight for African American civil rights and empowerment
from the nineteenth-century abolitionist movement to today’s Black Lives Matter
protests. Students will learn about major actors who sought to bring about
racial reform and get the opportunity to draw connections to forms of
anticolonial and antiracist resistance.
