The colloquium is a mandatory part of the MA Thesis module. All GPED students in the 4th
semester and above are encouraged to participate and discuss their
research projects. Throughout the semester, students will engage with
vital questions that help them progress with their MA Thesis, for
example: how to find a suitable topic, research question, and
supervisor? What research design fits my project? How can I plan and
organize the writing process amidst other responsibilities? How can I
align the thesis writing process with my future career perspectives?
Each session consists of two parts. In the first half an hour, one of
the above questions will be tackled collaboratively (input by the
lecture, questions and experience-sharing from students, and exercises).
In the second part, students present their work in progress, paying
particular attention to problems and questions they face. Students will
receive constructive feedback from the group, which will help them to
continue. There will be no regular readings or assignments, but all
students are expected to participate regularly and actively for a
positive group dynamic.
