Why do conversations about gender, race, power, and privilege seem polarising in the current culture? How is this polarisation impacting the language we use when we want to discuss complex social issues? This course is designed for students in Linguistics, Sociology, and Social Work to examine interdisciplinary understandings of these abstract words and nuanced concepts within English discourse. While the class discussions will be in English, written assignments and Moodle discussion responses may be submitted in German.
