Kinship relations are relations of filiation, alliance, love and care, but also ownership, rights and obligations. Historically, social practices around kinship have variously strengthened or hindered the advance of capitalism. Legally coded, socially performed, they are also a relation of production and reproduces its inherent structure of domination. In this sense, we can glean insights from a comparative study of kinship and company structures. From the angle of radical care, which both encompasses self-care and a relational, if not a collective practice, kinship can be reconfigured to include allyship and protectorship. The compact seminar will be accompanied by artistic projects that take kinship as a project to be de- and re-constructed.

Guests of the Blockseminar include Aneta Rostkowska and Kris Dittel (Temporary Gallery, Cologne), and the seminar will have a LARP (live action role-playing) component.

Dates will be announced in December 2021.
