This seminar highlights the intersection of developments in network technology and social theory since the 20th century. It examines critical moments in the emergence of decentralized and distributed networks and technologies, and their ramifications for organizational development, business models and ultimately, the reprograming of money and redesigning of ‘social institutions’ with blockchain technologies. With the example of artworks, the seminar offers both critical reflections on these developments and speculations on how they can be imagined differently.
Dieses Seminar beschäftigt sich mit der Überschneidung von Entwicklungen in der Netzwerktechnologie und der Gesellschaftstheorie seit dem 20. Jahrhundert. Jahrhundert. Es untersucht kritische Momente in der Entstehung dezentraler und verteilter Netzwerke und Technologien sowie deren Auswirkungen auf die organisatorische Entwicklung, Geschäftsmodelle und letztlich die Neuprogrammierung von Geld und die Neugestaltung "sozialer Institutionen" mit Blockchain-Technologien. Am Beispiel von Kunstwerken bietet das Seminar sowohl kritische Überlegungen zu diesen Entwicklungen als auch Spekulationen darüber, wie man sie sich anders vorstellen kann.
