This course focuses on Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adulthood and will include attention to common co-occurring mental health risks such as clinical depression and anxiety. Lectures and interactive discussions will address late diagnoses in adulthood as well as missed diagnoses and misdiagnoses. Lectures and interactive discussions will also address issues of unemployment or underemployment among adults with ADHD and/or ASD. Drawing on the social-relational model of disability, the two primary learning outcomes for participants in this course are as follows:

1. Discuss and design reasonable accommodations for adults with ADHD and/or ASD in a variety of environments (e. g. workplace, home, education) that may be applied within the framework of caregiving and social work.

2. Design counselling strategies that promote individual self-advocacy in a variety of environments and contexts for adults with ADHD and/or ASD.
