Good intercultural communication skills are a prerequisite for a successful stay abroad and an essential qualification for professional success in today`s globalized world. This course is designed for exchange and German students alike. You will learn about culture and its dimensions and about intercultural sensitivity, competence and communication between people with diverse cultural backgrounds. The intercultural encounter inside and outside the classroom will enable you to reflect on your own intercultural experience and to connect theory to real life situations. You will learn to analyze the dynamics of intercultural interactions from various points of view and thus increase your own intercultural awareness.
To achieve these learning objectives, a variety of methods will be used, like lecturing, discussions, simulations, role plays, exercises, text analysis and presentations.
Language of instruction: English, homework can be handed in in German or English.
Pls. note: your level of Engish should at least be intermediate; otherwise, you will have difficulty taking part in peer and class discussions.
Assessment:
2 ETCS for regular participation and learning journal (or presentation)
4 ETCS for regular participation, learning journal (or presentation) + thesis
In unseren Kursen besteht Anwesenheitspflicht. Studierende,
die aufgrund einer chronischen Erkrankung oder einer Behinderung nicht
regelmäßig teilnehmen können oder auch für die Abschlussprüfung
besondere Bedarfe haben, müssen sich bis zur zweiten Kursstunde an:
