It is essential for teachers to understand what constitutes successful reading processes, what influences them and how they can be fostered. For FL teachers, this can pose a particular challenge. Accordingly, participants will get to know and discuss different approaches to FL reading, text comprehension, and reading strategies. We will look at reading as an interactive process which is affected by the environment, the reader’s background and prior knowledge, the reading and language skills, and many other factors.

Different peer-assisted reading methods will provide us with practical ideas to enhance the (co-)construction of knowledge and negotiation of meaning in the EFL classroom.
