Dealing with disadvantaged neighborhoods between industrial transformation, traffic congestion and refugee immigration using the example of Kassel's Nordstadt district

As part of a visit by around 15 students from our partner university in Mersin/Turkey at the end of April/beginning of May, there will be the opportunity to take part in a joint binational workshop in English. The aim is to get to know students from the partner university and to exchange views on Turkish and German understandings and approaches to urban development using the example of disadvantaged neighborhoods with a migrant character. The focus is on the joint exploration of everyday life in migrant neighborhoods in Germany and the development of ideas for their urban and socio-spatial development in mixed groups of students from Mersin and Kassel using the example of three areas in Kassel's Nordstadt. Active participation can earn 3 Cr; there is also a possibility to continue working individually and to develop the work into a “Studienarbeit”, then earning 6 Cr. Students of all three disciplines (A, S, L) and study levels (Bachelor, Master) are welcome!
