Enhancing intercultural communication competencies is of utmost importance for future teachers, especially in the context of an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. In an increasingly globalized world, where cultures are becoming more interconnected, it is crucial for teachers to prepare students to navigate diverse cultural landscapes. Documentaries and short films provide authentic representations of diverse cultures, fostering curiosity and understanding. These resources offer a multisensory learning experience, enhancing language proficiency and exploring cultural nuances. Through analysis and discussion, students develop critical thinking skills and challenge stereotypes. By presenting real-life situations, documentaries and short films enable students to practice everyday language use and enhance their communicative competence. The use of audiovisual materials promotes engagement, motivation, and active involvement in the learning process.

Theoretical knowledge will, of course, constantly be linked to practical issues of classroom teaching, which means that participants will develop ideas of how to implement documentaries and short films in the EFL pupil centered classroom with particular emphasis on enhancing intercultural communication competencies.
